WHO ARE WE?
The NNREC is an independent charity covering the county of Norfolk. We work in partnership with communities, local, regional and national statutory & voluntary bodies to address issues of inequality and discrimination.
We are run by a full council and executive committee who are volunteers from the local community. In addition the NNREC office currently has seven members of staff:
- Director - Anne Matin,
- Race Equality Officer (REO) - Julie Benson,
- Community Cohesion & Diversity Officer (CCDO) - Sean Whyte,
- Administrative Officer - Kemal Shaheen,
- Project Administrator - Jacob Chawawa,
- Domestic Violence Project Coordinator - Ellie Amis,
- BME Inclusion Project Research Officer - Ewan Kennedy
THIS IS WHAT WE DO:
- Provide free advice & information about racial discrimination and harassment, equal opportunities and the promotion of good race relations
- Assist your organisation in developing and implementing equal opportunities and anti-racist policies and procedures in employment & service provision etc.
- Provide free advocacy, advice & assistance if you believe you are a victim of racial harassment & bullying and / or racial discrimination
- Facilitate & assist community based Black & Minority Ethnic groups to build capacity based on the needs they have identified
- Provide support, information and training to young people working on anti-racist projects
Our Aims and Objectives are
- To eliminate unlawful racial discrimination
- To promote equality of opportunity
- To promote good relations between persons of different racial groups
VOLUNTEERS
At the moment we are looking for volunteers to help with administrative work in the office, compile the NNREC bulletin and help develop the Norfolk Roots of the Future exhibition. Click here for more information.
